Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume: I’ve always been a big Judy Blume fan and this book was one of my favourites as a young teenager. I loved it so much I read it in French just so I could use it for a class assignment. The story begins in Atlantic City where Davey, a beautiful and independent 15 year-old, lives with her family. When her father is shot to death and dies in her arms, Davey retreats into an almost catatonic state. Her mother accepts an offer to move the family to Los Alamos, New Mexico to live with her sister and husband. The rest of the novel takes place once the family is uprooted and focuses on Davey’s attempts to manage her grief in a completely new environment and family dynamic.
